RegulationsIntroductionThe Federal Information Security Management
Act, commonly referred to as FISMA,is a United States law that was
implemented in the year 2002 (Stephen, 2013). This law wasput in
place for the sole purpose of protecting all the data from the
government against anyform of threat be it of a natural or a
man-oriented nature. The security department of theNIST came up
with this project and ensured that the government implemented it to
date.FISMA is of great essence taking into account that most of the
government information andchunks of data are stored or transmitted
through online media platforms. This is either doneby the
government itself or by any other third party entrusted with the
information. The lawworks together with the Federal Risk and
Authorization Management Program which comesto play when the data
is manipulated by the government through the use of the cloud
services.The main aim of this essay is to critically analyse the
law and elaborate on the reasons behindits enactment by the
